Body Rolling
Body Rolling
is a profound, yet simple approach to physical fitness and consists
of a series of routines that uses a 6-10 inch ball to stretch muscles,
freeing restrictions in all parts of the body, increasing blood flow
and promoting healing. Although many people now use balls for stretching
and body work, Body Rolling is different because it's done in a sequence
that follows the body's own logic and order.

By systematically
rolling muscles out from their origin in the direction of their insertion,
Body Rolling frees joint restrictions and elongates muscles, giving
them their optimal strength and tone. A Body Rolling routine involves
a series of weight-resistant stretches, in which the weight of the body
is used against the pressure of the ball to create a myofascial release
that frees muscle restriction.

Whatever
your specific exercise routine, over time it will build up repetitive
stress on particular parts of your body. Body Rolling helps avoid injury
by releasing the involved muscles, relieving tensions and pressure in
the joints, and freeing specific holding patterns that the muscles develop.
Improve
Flexibility - Body Rolling is effective because it makes stretching
easy and shows immediate results. In just one session, clients can actually
see their legs or torso get longer.
Increase
Range of Motion - Freeing a muscle from its origin sets off a release
that increases range of motion in the joint. In Body Rolling you work
all the muscles that attach to a specific joint, allowing an effortless
freedom of movement not possible before.
Release
Tight Muscles - One of the major reasons for injury is trying to work
muscles that are extremely tight. Taking time first to roll out tight
muscles allows you to go on to work these muscles without fear of injury.
Increase
Muscle Definition - You can roll out individual muscles within a muscle
group, freeing the myofascial connection between these muscles. You
can then actually see the individual muscles pop up. Once you have freed
individual muscles with Body Rolling you can train and develop them
separately, as well as increase muscle strength.
Heal Chronic
Injuries - Rolling out muscles through their entire length frees any
scar tissue or myofascial restriction. For example, 95% of all muscle
tears are at the tendon. Stimulating this tendon with Body Rolling brings
increased blood flow, breaking up restrictive scar tissue and promoting
healing.
Body Rolling
can be incorporated into any type of workout, whether a group fitness
class or Personal training. It's a great tool either as a warm-up or
at the end of a session, especially if there's been any overexertion
or impact to any joints. In a lower body workout, you can roll out specific
muscles of the shoulder girdle, neck and upper back. Working with the
abdomen, Body Rolling will help build long strong ab muscles, creating
greater length in both torso and spine protecting the lower back.
